Exam Special Arrangements
Students who have a condition that will significantly impact their performance in assessments can apply for Exam Special Arrangements, also known as ESAs.
Students seeking ESAs should contact TRW|SAS as early as possible. There is a cut-off date for each term, visible on our main page.
Should you experience a听temporary impairment听and require support for your examinations after the cut-off date, please听contact TRW | SAS听immediately so we can help.
Implementation of special arrangements for both formal exams and for timetabled departmental tests are requested through TRW|SAS and arranged by the Examinations Department.
Types of special arrangements that may be provided include:
- Extra time - 10 extra minutes per hour is the maximum in most circumstances, in line with national standards
- Reader and/or writer
- Flat room access and/or furniture adjustments
- Use of computer
- Rooms with few other students
- Exams in alternate formats
- Allowance to bring medications and/or medical equipment (e.g. diabetes monitors, insulin)
If you are unable to sit your test or exam, you must contact TRW|SAS听as soon as possible, and at least one working day before the test or exam. Failure to do this will result in a fine of $60.00 per exam.听 This goes towards the cost of setting up your accommodations.
If your ESAs are not utilised on two occasions without notice or justification, your arrangements may be stood down.
听Please note, tests and exams with special arrangements may run at slightly different times to the main cohort.

What is the difference between a test and an exam?
A test is held during the term, and you can find your special arrangements on .
If a test is not shown on your timetable, and you need your ESAs, please contact TRW|SAS at least 10 working days in advance.
An exam is held at the end of the semester, and you will receive a timetable with your special arrangements via email from the Examinations office in the last week of the semester.
Unless agreed otherwise with your Advisor, your tests and exams will have the same special arrangements.
